New work from exhibiting members, including two who have just joined, fills the gallery for the season.
Brandon Artists Guild invites the public to the opening reception for Merry & Bright, its annual holiday marketplace, on Friday, November 6, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the gallery. The reception offers a first look at new work by the Guild's exhibiting members and introduces two new exhibiting members: jeweler Judith Giusto and painter Morgan Beckwith.
Merry & Bright gives holiday shoppers a place to find original, handmade work, with new pieces created by the Guild's exhibiting members for the season. Visitors can browse the gallery for gifts and for pieces to keep, and the marketplace continues through January.
Two exhibiting members make their first appearance at the gallery with this show. Judith Giusto and Morgan Beckwith bring new work and new mediums to the Guild's lineup.
Giusto hand-fabricates her jewelry, working primarily in silver and brass and often incorporating semi-precious stones. She has recently been working with a hydraulic press and antique Art Nouveau and Art Deco dyes.

Morgan Beckwith, of Goshen, works in gouache, colored pencil, and crayon, and finds her subjects in everyday moments. "Painting for me is a way to savor a moment, an afternoon in the garden, a way to look back and remember the sounds of geese in the yard, goats grazing fall grass, my daughter collecting rocks and sharing tomatoes with the dogs," Beckwith says. "Painting is a way of cataloging the feeling of times in my life I want to never forget."

The reception will also unveil the second ornament in the Guild's Commemorative Ornament Series, created by Guild president Althea Bilodeau Lamb.
