All Brandon community members are welcomed and encouraged to join the third meeting of the Brandon: A Hub and Our Home Community Visit process on Thursday, June 25 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the Neshobe School (17 Neshobe Circle). Attendees will review points of vision for the future of Brando, and help build action plans to advance community priorities. Pizza dinner and drinks will be served, and childcare will be provided.

On May 27, Brandon residents came together for the second step of the Brandon: A Hub and Our Home process to review a list of 22 opportunities for action, generated from the input of over 150 community members, and choose top priorities for action. Through a two-round voting process, Brandon residents chose three priorities and are forming local task forces that will work to:

  • Open a Laundromat in Brandon

  • Expand Trails and Safe Walking and Biking Routes Across Town

  • Expand and Improve Housing

At the meeting on June 25, participants will create action plans and identify resources for each action priority with support from a team of state, regional, and federal partners. Members of the Visiting Resource Team who will attend the meeting include staff from the Vermont Department of Economic Development, Vermont Department of Forests, Parks, and Recreation, Vermont Community Foundation, US Forest Service, Chamber and Economic Development of the Rutland Region, Local Motion, and more.

Community members are invited to come to the meeting and join a task force, regardless of whether they have participated in the process so far. Alyssa Johnson, VCRD Community Visit Program Director says, “There was strong enthusiasm for these priorities and excitement about their potential to shape the future of Brandon. Join the meeting on June 25 to help create specific plans for action, and to hear from folks across the state who can help support this work."
