Alarm, Grove Street

Brandon Police were dispatched to the Lucky 7 Dispensary on Grove Street for a burglary alarm activation. The alarm company later called Dispatch back and advised that the responding officer could disregard as the alarm appeared to have been accidental.

911 Hangup, Mulcahy Drive

An officer responded to an apartment building on Mulcahy Drive for a report of a 911 call that came into the call center in which a small child could be heard talking in the background but would not speak with the dispatcher. The responding officer later determined that a small child, who had been carrying his mother's cell phone, accidentally dropped the phone, causing it to dial 911.

Welfare Check, Mulcahy Drive

An officer responded to Mulcahy Drive for a welfare check requested by an individual who had not seen a friend who lived in the same apartment building for several days and noticed that the friend’s mail and packages were piling up. The responding officer located the individual and determined that although he was feeling under the weather, he was safe and sound.

TRO/FRO Service, Wyman Road

Middlebury Police requested assistance from the Brandon Police Department in serving a Temporary Relief From Abuse Order. The order was later served on the defendant in hand.

Assist - Agency, Prospect Street

The Vermont State Police in Rutland requested assistance from the Brandon Police in trying to notify the owner of a wallet that had been turned into the barracks.

Fingerprints completed for educational purposes.

Alarm, Hollow Road

Brandon Police responded to a residence on Hollow Road for a burglary alarm activation. It was later determined by the responding officer that the alarm had been set off accidentally by the homeowner.

Custody Dispute, North Street

A complaint was made by the father of a child who stated that the mother of his child was preventing him from seeing him. The complainant was referred to Family Court to address the custody issue.

Traffic Stop, Supermarket Drive

A motor vehicle stop was conducted on Supermarket Drive for failure to maintain the travel lane. A warning was issued to the operator.

August 25

Animal Incident, Forest Dale Road

A husky was located wandering in traffic on Route 7 and was brought to the Brandon Police Department. The animal was later reunited with its owner.

Crash - Property Damage Only, Park Street/Marble Street

A road rage incident resulting in a two-car motor vehicle crash was reported to the Brandon Police Department. The incident is under active investigation.

Citizen Dispute, West Seminary Street

Received a 911 call of shots fired at a residence on West Seminary Street. Officers responded to the scene and spoke with the complainants who advised that they had heard someone discharge a firearm at their next-door neighbor's house and heard glass breaking. Officers located the residence in question and encountered the male suspect, who fled inside when ordered to show his hands. Using a PA system, the homeowner was ordered out of his house and later taken into custody at gunpoint by the responding officers. The male, who was highly intoxicated, was determined to be incapacitated and taken into protective custody, where he was later lodged at the Marble Valley Correctional Center for detox. A search warrant was later obtained for the suspect's home and, upon execution, numerous loaded pistols, rifles, and ammunition were located inside. The suspect was later issued a flash citation and held on $200 bail at the Marble Valley Correctional Center for the crime of Reckless Endangerment. The investigation is ongoing and additional search warrants will be sought regarding this incident.

Abandoned Vehicle, Center Street

Officers responded to a report of an abandoned vehicle on Center Street. The vehicle was found to be in a private parking lot.

Juvenile Problem, Severy Farm Road/Country Club Road

An officer on patrol in the area of Severy Farm Road and Country Club Road conducted a motor vehicle stop regarding a juvenile male who was operating an electric dirt bike on a public highway.

August 24

Motor Vehicle Complaint, Franklin Street

Received a complaint of an erratic operator on Franklin Street traveling southbound toward the Town of Pittsford.

Directed Patrol, Newton Road

Officers conducted directed speed enforcement on Newton Road due to ongoing speeding complaints. No violations were observed.
