Citizen Dispute, Church Street

Received an after-hours 911 call from a complainant advising that he could hear what sounded like a child being beaten on an ongoing basis at a residence on Church Street.

Trespass, Forest Dale Road

Received a complaint of an individual trespassing at Olivia's Croutons on Forest Dale Road. No Brandon officers were on duty at the time, so the Vermont State Police were asked to respond to investigate the complaint.

July 10

Suspicious Event, Grove Street

Received multiple complaints regarding four males in two vehicles taking pallets from the rear of Brandon Lumber. It was later determined that the individuals had permission to take the pallets and that no crime(s) were committed.

Traffic Control, McConnell Road / Route 7

The Brandon Police assisted with traffic control for the Jesse Ebbighausen Memorial Ride as it came through the Town of Brandon.

Traffic Stop, Grove Street

Motor vehicle stop conducted on Grove Street for a red-light violation. The operator was issued a warning.

Information, Humiston Drive

A neighbor dispute over a well in the development was reported on Humiston Drive.

S.O.R. Checks, Country Club Road

The Brandon Police Department assisted the State of Vermont Sex Offender Registry in locating an individual who had moved to Brandon and had failed to register his address with them. The subject was located on Country Club Road and was directed to immediately contact the registry so that he came into compliance with state law.

Crash - Non-Reportable, Conant Square

A minor motor vehicle crash was reported in a parking lot on Conant Square.

Parking, Center Street

Received a complaint about an ongoing issue with an individual who was habitually parking in a handicapped parking space in front of Morningside Bakery. The vehicle was located and issued a handicapped parking ticket for the violation. The Brandon Police Department would like to remind the public to please be courteous and not park in spaces designated for disabled persons. Vehicles found in violation will be both ticketed and towed if found parked in a handicapped parking space without a placard.

Crash - Injury to person(s), Grove Street

Received a 911 call for a one-car motor vehicle crash on Grove Street in which a vehicle drove off the roadway and hit a mailbox. No Brandon Police officers were on duty at the time, so the Vermont State Police-Rutland responded to the crash scene to investigate the accident.

July 9

Violation of Court Order, Carver Street

Received a complaint from a female who was reporting that her ex-boyfriend was harassing/stalking her and sending nude photographs of her over the internet. Investigation opened.

Parking, Supermarket Drive

Brandon Police dealt with a parking complaint in which a vehicle was parked illegally between two handicap parking signs at the Hannaford Supermarket. A ticket for prohibited parking was issued to the operator of the vehicle.

Motor Vehicle Complaint, Center Street

An officer on patrol observed four juveniles operating electric motorcycles in the downtown Brandon area. The youths were stopped and issued warnings about operating the bikes on the sidewalks and/or public highways.

Death Investigation, N. Birch Hill Road

Responded to a residence on North Birch Hill Road for an untimely death. A joint investigation was conducted by the Brandon Police Department and the State of Vermont Office of the Chief Medical Examiner regarding the death. It was later determined that the death appeared to be due to natural causes.

Assist - Agency, Union Street

Brandon Police issued a citation to a suspect at the Brandon Police Department who was the subject of a home improvement fraud investigation being conducted by the Vermont State Police-New Haven.

Drug Activity, Syndicate Road / Carver Street

Responded to the area of Syndicate Road for a report of a male and female inside of a parked car with fentanyl strips observed thrown on the ground near the vehicle. The responding officer located the vehicle and determined that no obvious drug activity was occurring and that the parties were just sleeping in their car.

Crash - Property Damage Only, McConnell Road / Birch Hill Road

Received a call regarding a late-reported crash that allegedly occurred earlier during the night in which a vehicle was partially blocking the roadway on McConnell Road near Birch Hill Road after having struck a guardrail.

July 8

Information, Church Street

A resident of Church Street called to report that she had been having domestic issues with her husband and that she told him to leave their home. No crime was reported, but the complainant was concerned should her husband return later on.

July 7

TRO/FRO Service, High Pond Road

Brandon Police served a Temporary Relief From Abuse Order per request of the Rutland City Police Department on an individual who was located in the parking lot of the Walgreens Pharmacy on Union Street in Brandon.

Directed Patrol, Center Street / Park Street

Officers conducted foot patrols in the downtown area of Brandon for ongoing complaints of kids riding bicycles on the sidewalks in violation of the town ordinance. No violations were observed.

Crash - Non-Reportable, Park Street / Franklin Street

Officer responded to a minor motor vehicle crash at the intersection of Franklin Street and Park Street. The operators were assisted in exchanging information.

July 6

Alarm, Franklin Street

Officers received a call regarding a building alarm activation at Otter Valley Union High School on Franklin Street.

Welfare Check, Stone Mill Dam Road

Officers responded to the area of Stone Mill Dam Road for a report of two people passed out in a motor vehicle who may have been under the influence. The responding officers made contact with the two subjects, who were determined to be fine and were not intoxicated.

Untimely Death, Grove Street

Officers responded to a residence on Grove Street for a welfare check request by the Brandon Post Office regarding mail piling up at the home for the past two weeks. The responding officers later located the homeowner deceased in the residence. An investigation by the Brandon Police Department and the Vermont Office of the Chief Medical Examiner was conducted, and it was determined that the death appeared to have been due to natural causes.
