The Neshobe Current is partnering with the Brandon Chamber of Commerce to bring your questions to the State Representative Candidate Forum planned for Tuesday, Sept. 29, at 7 p.m. at the Brandon Town Hall.

We’re joining Chamber Executive Director Bernie Carr and crew to put a twist on the traditional Chamber event: at the end of the forum, we’ll have a chance to ask candidates Jeff Haylon (D) and Aida Nielsen (R) questions submitted by you, our readers, as well as others who may not have a chance to make it to the event in person. We’ll also be sharing a video of the event on our website afterwards.

Our goal is to broaden the voices reaching the candidates before the Nov. 3 election and increase citizen engagement in the democratic process. Haylon and Nielsen are running to represent the Rutland-9 legislative district made up of Brandon and Forest Dale.

Please send your questions to [email protected]. Don’t forget to tell us if your questions are directed at both candidates or one in particular. You may submit more than one question, but remember that time at the forum is limited and we may need to combine, summarize, or omit some questions. Although we won’t say your name when asking the question, we may mention some information about you, if relevant, such as whether you are a student, retiree, business owner, etc.

For a refresher on the candidates, check out our interviews and video:
