This time of year you can see the showy lady’s slipper at Eshqua Bog in Hartland, Vermont.
Showy lady's slippers have protected status in 14 U.S. states and are included on Vermont's "List of Rare and Uncommon Native Vascular Plants." According to the U.S. Forest Service, in Vermont, "a historical population that had not been seen since 1902 was rediscovered by Green Mountain National Forest staff in 2009, and consisted of more than 1,000 plants."
