LEMINGTON, Vt. — It is with profound sadness that the family of Scott A. Cooper announces his passing on June 7, 2026, at the Jack Byrne Center for Palliative and Hospice Care in Lebanon, New Hampshire. He was born on July 11, 1959, in Randolph, Vermont, to Murlan and Sally (Tewksbury) Cooper. A respected leader, devoted family man and distinguished pillar of the community, Scott leaves behind a legacy of integrity, wisdom and service.
After graduating from high school and college, Scott enjoyed a long career in the banking industry spanning 50 years. Beginning at Randolph National Bank, his sharp analytical mind and superior customer service skills led him to many executive leadership positions. In addition to Randolph National Bank, he held executive leadership positions at First Brandon National Bank, North American State Bank (Minnesota), United Prairie Bank (Minnesota), and finally at Bangor Savings Bank in Colebrook, New Hampshire. Known for his strategic vision and steadfast leadership through changing economic (and geographic) landscapes, he was a mentor to many and a trusted advisor to countless businesses and colleagues.
While his professional accomplishments were many, his truest passions lay in supporting his children and grandchildren, always telling them he loved them and was proud of them. He was also a proud Vermont Deputy Game Warden for 24 years, and his love and support for the game warden services never ended. He was an avid big-game hunter, honored to be listed as the third award winner in Boone and Crockett for his Quebec-Labrador caribou in 2017.
Throughout his life he served on a vast number of boards and committees, most recently as a selectman for the Town of Lemington, Vermont, where his leadership skills continued to shine through. He will be remembered for his abilities to add a little levity when a conversation got too serious, had a joke for any and every situation, and was always willing to lend a hand.
He is survived by his wife (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YoGgbxX8iko) of more than 26 years, Lynette; his children, grandchildren and one great-grandchild; his mother, Sally; his sister, Cindy (Gary) Jarvis; and many extended family members and friends.
Scott was predeceased by his father, Murlan Cooper, Jr.
