On August 13, members of the Maclure Library Cookbook Club learned how to make a Japanese comfort food called Nikujaga. Guest chef Miwa Lalancette explained the recipe then quickly got us busy peeling and chopping vegetables for this traditional dish. Watching, stirring, and sampling kept us busy until dinner was ready.
While dining, we learned about the traditional method of making mochi (by pounding mochigome, a sticky rice) and were able to watch videos of its preparation.

Delicious food, good conversation, and the opportunity to learn something new made for a very enjoyable evening. Thank you, Miwa!
The Maclure Library Cookbook Club meets on the third Monday of each month in the lower level of the library at 5:30. A chosen cookbook and sign-up sheet are available by the circulation desk. New members are always welcome; come cook (and bake) with us!
