In partnership with the Middlebury American Legion Post 27, Sudbury United Neighbors, Inc. (S.U.N., Inc.) has organized a unique tribute to our nation’s veterans.

Red, white, and blue pinwheels will be sponsored by donors wishing to remember their loved ones who have served or are currently serving in the U.S. military. Up to 150 pinwheels will be installed on the Sudbury green on Route 30 from Nov. 2 through Nov. 13, 2026. An 8’ x 3’ banner marking this display has been donated to S.U.N., Inc. by Legion Post 27. Proceeds go to S.U.N., Inc., to help improve and maintain publicly owned buildings and land in Sudbury, along with funding from the town and grants.

Pinwheels can be sponsored for $3 each, and the names will be read at a tribute ceremony during the Veterans Day Sudbury Soup Supper on Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2026.

Sudbury Meeting House has a handsome Honor Roll affixed to its exterior, on the south side. The Honor Roll was made in 1945 and lists Sudbury residents who served in WWII. The pinwheels will add an attractive element to the green which surrounds the building.

Contact [email protected] for further information or to purchase pinwheel sponsorships. Any remaining will be sold at Harvest Fest and Pig Roast at the Sudbury Meeting House on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2026, from 1-5 p.m.
